Once again we are closing the road alongside the pub and are hosting Glos-tonbury (Gloucester Road’s answer to Glastonbury) – with live Music, Graffiti, Skateboarding, and Breakdancing. Hopefully no rain, certainly no mud.

On the Friday night we have First Degree Burns – http://www.myspace.com/firstdegreeburnsuk – throwing us into the party mode ready for the weekend. £3 entry, doors 8pm, bar til 1am.

On the Saturday – Midday-6pm…

We have… music from:

DJs: Skint, Rogue, Awkward, Ben One, Mr Fantastic
– Playing summer party beats and lots of Hip-Hop to keep the skaters rolling and the Breakers breakin.

We have… live breakdancing from the Bristol B-boy/B-girl convention. Competition heats throughout the day.

We have… the Golden Lion half-pipe being skated by some of Bristol’s finest. Best trick competition throughout the day.

We have… live Graffiti from:

Lokey, Mr Jago, China Mike, RichT, Ghostboy, Dicey (painting a van), 2Keen, 3rd Eye, Mr Riks, Mad Mao, Awkward, and many more

We also have… Clothing stalls from:

Avalaan, Dutty Girl, Butchi & Gosmos and Zedhead

Plus… a BBQ, selling burgers.

Then in the evening from 6pm we close all that down and bring the party inside (so as not to piss the neighbours off) where we will have live music from:

Vertebrae – http://www.myspace.com/vertebrae
and
Scubaroots – http://www.myspace.com/scubaroots

£3 entry from 7pm, bar til 1am.

Then, on Sunday, in the evening, we are going to host our first charity art auction – Off the Record, there will be 40 12″ records that have been decorated (painted, graffed, drawn on, etc) by 40 of Bristol’s finest artists including all the Glos-tonbury artists plus:

Cheo, Haka, Adam Mclevey, Mick Hockney, Soker, Andy Council, Phil Harvey, Paris, Lulu, Blythe Pepino, Hugo Fat, Jon5, and many more

We’ve got music from Fuzia – http://www.myspace.com/fuziabristol

It’s free entry, but please bring lots of money for the auction as it all goes to the Mind charity – which is a very good cause. Bar til midnight.

THE PRESS RELEASE …
Upfest’09 – The Urban Paint Festival
Saturday the 6th of June
South Bristol’s – Tobacco Factory, Grain Barge,
Bridewell Police Station, the View Art Gallery
and street locations.
The Urban Paint Festival returns to South Bristol
on Saturday the 6th of June, with over 150 Contemporary
Urban artists travelling from across the globe to
take place in what is set to be the largest ‘live’
art event in Europe this year. Following the huge
success of Upfest’08 the shows organisers have gone
all out this year with the bold challenge of making
it even bigger and broader than ever.

Upfest encourages a wide range of styles of urban art
and this year will see a new set of upcoming, exciting
artists taking to the streets. Bristol, being known
for its wide range of cultural and vibrant street art
pieces, makes it a perfect venue as it has now embraced
the art form as a way of life.

Once again the festival will raise awareness and support
for the local charity with national coverage,
NACOA (National Association of Children of Alcoholics),
NACOA was founded to provide information, advice and
support for children of alcohol dependent parents and
people concerned for their welfare. There are almost
a million children living with an alcohol dependent
parent(s) in the UK today, many of them hiding their
problems, living in fear and without support. NACOA offer
this support through their free confidential helpline.
Call for help on 0800 358 3456

Alongside the 12 hours of live painting, art sale, kids area,
music and sunshine…. Upfest won’t be without its new a
dditions to the show either, with give it a go art areas,
big games, art and print stalls, urban dance nights and of
course the human beat-boxers. Upfest is just £4 to attend
all the locations throughout the day and you can be assured
you will not find a finer collection of artists anywhere
else this year. For up to date information please visit
our website www.upfest.co.uk
